Ketamine infusion treatment is a powerful and effective way to help relieve the symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. It can also be used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic attacks, social anxiety, and other conditions. Park Slope ketamine infusion treatment takes place for about an hour. The patient is sedated during this procedure, so they are unconscious and unable to feel pain or discomfort.

    What is ketamine infusion?

During the infusion, a small amount of ketamine is injected into a vein in the arm or leg. The drug quickly reaches its target brain region and begins to work on various brain chemicals that may be causing symptoms. This process can take up to 20 minutes before you feel any effects from the drug, although it may feel like less time.

The infusion process causes your brain to release endorphins, natural painkillers which reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. Afterward, you will sleep for about two hours as your body recovers from the effects of the drug.

How long does it take to recover?

The amount of time it takes for you to recover fully depends on many factors, including:

    • Your health history
    • Your age
    • The type of surgery being performed

Afterward, you might feel drowsy or groggy for a few days. However, most people return to normal activity within a few hours after an operation because their bodies can heal naturally.

What are the potential side effects of ketamine infusion therapy?

    1. Nausea and vomiting

Nausea and vomiting are the most common side effects of ketamine infusion treatment. It is a temporary condition that will pass after the infusion is over. If you have severe nausea or vomiting, it may be necessary to reduce the dose or change your treatment schedule so that you don’t feel sick during the infusion.

    2. Breathing problems and confusion

Breathing problems include shortness of breath, irregular breathing, and feeling like you can’t catch your breath. This can happen while on the infuser or afterward, depending on how much ketamine was used during your infusion. If this happens, it should go away within a few minutes once you have stopped inhaling the gas from the machine. Call your doctor immediately if it does not go away within a short period, usually less than 10 minutes.

    3. Drowsiness and blurred vision

You may feel drowsy after an infusion because of some of the drugs used during this procedure, but this feeling passes within a few hours after stopping treatment with ketamine infusion therapy (Ketamine IV Therapy). Contact your doctor if you feel dizzy or experience blackouts that last longer than 15 minutes.

Ketamine infusion is a safe and effective treatment for depression. The treatment can be delivered in a clinic or at home, with mild side effects. Therefore, treatment with ketamine infusion is one of the most common treatments for people who suffer from depression. The main benefit of ketamine infusion treatment is that it is very effective in alleviating symptoms of depression and anxiety, and other mental health problems.
