    Hydrolyzed Collagen is a form of collagen that is also known as collagen hydrolysate, collagen peptide and gelatin which is derived from bovine bone and cartilage through a hydrolysis process. Benefits of hydrolyzed collagen include:”

    Summary:

    Collagen as discussed above has anti-aging benefits (eg. prevents premature wrinkles, strengthens hair and nails, preserves the elasticity and firmness of skin, and joint health), both for health and for beauty. Collagen is gradually lost from the body. This loss increases as you age, and especially rapidly after menopause. It is a structural protein and is the most abundant protein in our body (25%). It is vital as it provides support, structure and strength at the cellular level and at the skeletal level, via the connective tissue (tendons and ligaments)* of joints so that the joints are strong yet supple enough (that is has good elasticity) to be able to withstand strenuous activity within reasonable health limits, without injury.

    Your joint health is VERY important as it affects your mobility. When that is severely affected it is a documented fact that one’s lifespan shortens significantly following such immobility.

    Collagen is hydrolyzed so that it is easily absorbed and assimilated by the body. Note that the biggest component of cartilage is collagen rather than glucosamine and chondroitin so it is recommended that you focus on getting enough collagen rather than the other two components because of this, in spite of the fact that health products tend to focus mainly on supplying glucosamine and chondroitin (which is the “opposite of what you really want”, cf. video above).

    Type 2 collagen is for cartilage repair. Take this on an empty stomach, by itself, to facilitate its best absorption eg. in the evening. If you are also taking types 1 and 3 collagen, take them on an empty stomach as well but at a separate time from type 2 collagen, eg. in the morning. The collagen molecule is too big to penetrate the skin and has to be taken INTERNALLY. The best form to take is hydrolyzed collagen.
