Restylane is a brand of HA dermal fillers that are used to replace lost collagen and enhance our natural characteristics. Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane, Restylane Refyne, and Restylane Defyne are among the products in the Restylane family. Each filler is designed to mimic the effects of hyaluronic acid produced naturally by your body. Although they all have the same name, each product in the family serves a distinct purpose. Everything you need to know about Restylane (including which Restylane product is right for you) is right here!
1. What Is Restylane and How Does It Work?
Restylane is an FDA-approved HA (hyaluronic acid) dermal filler, as previously indicated. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration approved it as the first filler ever! Restylane is most recognized for filling the lips, but the business has also released a line of products for nasolabial folds, cheeks, and other areas.
2. FDA-Approved Applications
For moderate to severe facial creases, such as nasolabial folds, Restylane and Restylane-L are used. Lip injections with Restylane and Restylane-L are also recommended. Restylane Lyft with Lidocaine is used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles and lines, such as nasolabial folds and cheek enhancement. Restylane Lyft with Lidocaine is also approved for injection into mature individuals’ hands to treat volume deficits. Restylane Silk is used to plump up the lips and smooth out creases around the mouth. Restylane Refyne reduces the appearance of laugh lines (nasolabial folds and marionette lines) while preserving your natural facial emotions. Restylane Defyne is used to treat deep facial creases and folds, such as nasolabial folds, that are moderate to severe.
3. Am I a Good Candidate for Restylane Products?
The Restylane family of products is used to:
- By smoothing away facial wrinkles and folds and adding volume to the lips, you can get a natural-looking finish (Restylane)
- provide a modest boost to the lips while also smoothing the wrinkles surrounding them (Restylane Silk)
- Adding fullness to the cheeks, midface, and backs of the hands can give you a more natural-looking, young appearance (Restylane Lyft)
- allow you to keep your natural expressions while providing natural-looking outcomes to laugh lines (Restylane Refyne & Restylane Defyne).
4. What Is the Price of Restylane?
Restylane Silk and Restylane costs $499 a syringe at Celibre Medical and lasts 6-12 months. Restylane Lyft costs $700 and can last for up to a year (especially in the cheeks). The cost of Restylane Refyne and Restylane Defyne is $800 per syringe, which is owing to the product’s longevity and ability to support natural face movement and expressions.
5. What Should You Look For When Selecting A Service Provider?
It’s critical, like with any filler, to have treatment from a qualified and skilled injector. Before scheduling your injection, make certain that they are a Registered Nurse, a board-certified dermatologist, or a board-certified plastic surgeon (their licenses are public record, so you can check), that they have documented certifications of their knowledge, and that they have overall good reviews of. Before your treatment, schedule a consultation to ensure that the injector is the correct fit for you.
6. Restylane Treatment: What to Expect
This filler procedure is the same as any other. The injector will begin the numbing process after discussing your concerns with them. We apply a topical anesthetic that takes around 15-20 minutes to fully activate. It’s FDA-approved to add lidocaine to Restylane if it doesn’t already include it for extra numbing. As a result, you’ll get a more pleasurable treatment with little to no discomfort.
7. Is There Going To Be Any Pain, Bruising, Or Swelling?
Swelling and bruising are common side effects of injections and should be expected. It’s difficult to avoid, no matter how competent your injector is. Of course, we’ll employ measures to reduce side effects as much as possible. Because of the lidocaine and numbing lotion, pain should be minimal. We’ve also recently added a PRO-NOX machine as an additional, more effective choice. The PRO-NOX is a pneumatically driven gas system that delivers a 50/50 mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide to adult and pediatric patients in a medical setting for pain and anxiety alleviation. It’s basically the same as laughing gas at the dentist.
8. Is There Going to Be Any Downtime?
This is entirely dependent on your willingness to return to normal activities despite still showing signs of swelling or bruising. Swelling should subside after a few days, and bruising should fade after a week. We also don’t encourage working out or drinking the day of your treatment, or getting facials or massages for two weeks afterward.
9. Tips to Help You Recover More Effortlessly
Aside from choosing a trained injector, there are a few pointers that will help you recover quickly.
- On the day of treatment, ice the treated region for 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off.
- Pineapple and Arnica cream have been reported to help in bruise recovery.
- It is advisable not to take any pain medicines that are blood thinners, such as aspirin, Advil, Motrin, or Vitamin E, to assist limit bruising. Because alcohol and caffeine are blood thinners, they should be avoided for a few days before and after therapy.
- If you’re pregnant or nursing, allergic to any of the components, or have a neurological disease, don’t use Restylane.
- On the region to be treated, avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or using hair removal cream.
- Avoid using Vitamin C cream, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acids with concentrations greater than 10%, and Retinoids.
10. Restylane should not be used by anyone.
People who should not use the Restylane line of products include those who:
- Are you pregnant or nursing a child?
- Have you recently taken blood thinners or anti-clotting medications?
- Have had severe sensitivities in the past, notably to germs called gram-positive bacteria
- Have severe drug allergies that necessitated hospitalization in the past?
- Have a problem with bleeding?
- If using Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane, Restylane Refyne, or Restylane Defyne, you have a known allergy to lidocaine.
Our skin changes as we get older; it’s a natural aspect of life. Collagen loss begins at the age of 20, resulting in thinner skin and less elastin. But that doesn’t mean we have to be dissatisfied with our appearance! Restylane and other dermal fillers are fantastic anti-aging tools that can give you the confidence boost you need.
